BLD-IT Ministry in action
In the early Spring of 2022, my local church shared with the congregation the needs of a single mom of three girls. The youngest of the girls was born with a rare genetic disease. As a result, this little one is confined to a wheelchair, is non-verbal, and developmentally delayed. As she grows it was becoming very obvious that she needed a new wheelchair, a lift and transfer device, and a wheelchair accommodating van for her and her family.
As a part of providing for her needs, BLD-IT Ministry moved into action. My son, John, is the owner of Luxury Auto Collection in Scottsdale, AZ. After speaking with him, he was determined that the need for the accommodating van could be met through BLD-IT! After talking with Jenny about the specific needs to be met, my son went into action and found a beautiful van that would be perfect for the family. For accommodations to the van, Jenny asked for a side-entry with a manual ramp. Our son, wanting the best for this mom had an automatic ramp installed and also lowered the van floor leaving normal suspension intact for easy loading. The front passenger seat was adjusted so that it could be removed allowing the wheelchair to a take its place. As a result, as this child matures, she can sit up front with mom. Jenny was also given a 4-year service contract and an extended warranty.
On the day of receiving the van, the family, grandmother, our pastor and his wife, along with neighbors and Dorla and I celebrated! The family was so appreciative and thankful for BLD-IT making it possible for them to travel together as a family. They couldn’t wait to go out to eat together!
